ABOUT THE WINE
Inspired by two Old Vine Project vineyards meticulously farmed near each other in the vicinity of Paarl, I sought out a way to communicate the character, charisma, versatility, and resilience of old vineyards in aviation speak.
The iconic silhouette of a biplane is reminiscent of its role in exploration and adventure. It beckons you to embark on a journey where you can end up in a tropical paradise, unexplored jungle, desert, or even a mountain. It gave wings to your dreams.
THE VINEYARDS
The vineyards have clay-rich soil with koffie klippies scattered on its surface. These old bush vines have stood the test of time and offer an intense expression of its surroundings and era.
Every year, we follow the fruits’ development to maturity, pick them when the season has ripened them and coax the quality into a bottle with a detour in a barrel. The finesse of the finished product is the result of the quality and age of the vineyard rather than the winemaker’s interference. He is merely the conductor directing the symphony, ensuring every nuance and subtlety of the wine’s expression is preserved, captivating the senses with each harmonious sip.
Artist Hennie van Loggerenberg did the original artwork after much tasting and talking. He has the gift of bringing many of our wines to life on paper.

Planted in 1974. And ode to any design can be found in its versatility and longevity. Uncomplicated, easy to understand and adapt, sturdy in execution.
To the extent that the only limit is your imagination. And because it stood the test of time, a good example has become a collectable. Both true of cultivar and the plane.

Planted in 1954. There is beauty in the mundane workhorse that stood the test of time. The durability and reliability that endears it to its operatives take it to an elevated status of a classic and collectable.
